The track/DJ/party that made me want to be a DJ was:
In club land it was Nikita, the former Friday night Spundae party at 1015 back in the day.  In the underground world it was at first the Radiance parties, and then of course Burning Man.  BM in particular was a major seed of inspiration to both create dance expereinces for others and do what it takes to be a in a position to share muisc via DJ'ing with others as well.

Influences:
Musical Roots- Pink Floyd & Syd Barrett, of course; + Iron Maiden, Soundgarden, Ice Cube, Public Enemy, Steely Dan, Wagner, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Spiritualized, Miles Davis, Janes Addiction, Bob Marley, Beatles, Bauhaus / Love and Rockets, NIN.

In dance music it was / is Meat Katie, Lee Coombs, Dylan Rhymes, Elite Force, Armin Van Burren, Tiesto, Sasha, DJ Vibe, Gabriel & Dresden, Jerry Bonham, Jondi & Spesh, etc.

Other influences: my cool parents and loving family, Ken Wilber, Krishnamurti, Guatanama Buddha, Noam Chomsky, Ram Dass, Jack Kornfield, Rumi, the human Jesus, Dave Williams, Isabel Allende, Gandhi, MLK, and for showing me the face of evil and ignorance – Dick Cheny, the puppet master .

I got my first break:
In all honesty, I created my first break.  It was one of the many motivations to throw parties, in addition to all the idealistic hopes of harnessing the EDM culture for good, it was also to share music I loved with people I loved in the community that I love.  Opel and Opulent Temple in part grew out of the desire to create my own chances to play prime time at great parties.  It sure beats waiting around for someone else to book you.  I highly recommend it for aspiring djs.  What I would consider my first big dj moment was BM2K4, opening up for Hybrid at our Wednesday night white party. The mixing Gods were with me.

Some DJs I like playing with are:
I'm very blessed for the company I keep.  2007 was a great year for getting to open and  / or close for the varied likes of Moby, Underworld, Stanton Warriors, Paul Oakenfold, Rabbit in the Moon, Fort Knox 5, Armin Van Buuren, Markus Schultz, Meat Katie, Lee Coombs, Dylan Rhymes, Hyper, etc.  WOW.  Also of course playing with my Opel and Opulent Temple homies, tag partner Alain Octavo, etc.

Favorite thing about the SF scene:
Diversity and quality.  I of course don't like it all, but I'm really glad it's all there.  Of course the great Burning Man crews like the Deep End, Green Gorilla, House of Lotus, Coda, etc. bring a great desert laced community and important elements to our scene as well  Plus the political consciousness here is much more in alignment with mine.  Don't think I could live anywhere else

Least favorite thing about the SF scene:
Parking tickets and factionalism.

My favorite SF party is/was:
San Francisco LoveFest + of course, some of the more epic Opel parties, as well as a poppin’ Spundae party and duh Burning Man.

My favorite Club to play in is:
Don’t have one, depends on the party.  Not surprisingly, my favorite situation to play in is at the Opulent Temple at Burning Man.  Nothing like a flame thrower switch in the dj booth...

If I could put together MY dream music festival, the Entertainment would be:
Don’t have one, depends on the party.  Not surprisingly, my favorite situation to play in is at the Opulent Temple at Burning Man.  Nothing like a flame thrower switch in the dj booth...

If I couldn't play records I would probably be a professional:
I would bet I would be a clinical psychologist.

I want to thank these people for helping me get this far:
My family, especially my sister Gina.  Samantha, and the peeps I love, Peter & Guiv @ Spundae are bros for life, Opulent Temple ‘A’ Team / Core djs and core peeps (love you!), Ross, George, Reggie, & Jessica @ Ruby , Sean, Isabel and Derek @ Mighty,  Mark Pember, Marvin Beaver, & Lee Coombs, Murphstar, Adam Ohana & Taj, the original Radiance crew, some of the core group of Garage Mahal especially Tamo, the former Infinite Kaos core, and the late great cat Chopin.

What you want people to know and we didn't ask:
IThe world is rapidly approaching levels of human calamity that are unprecendented.  We have a responsibility to get conscious, wake up, engage the world, and do our part.  We can not use parties, dance music, and Burning Man to escape this reality.  On the contrary, given that they are gathering points for our community (like church is in other communities), we have to utilize them as avenues to know what's happening and get inspired to do things to turn the tide collectively.  I know there are many who don't want their politics and partying to mix.  Tough shit.  We don't have that luxury.  The turns of history will unfortunately prove me right, but I hope I'm wrong.  And of course, simulataneously, we shouldn't hold any of it too tightly...

My motto is:
The purpose of life is to realize our inner divinity and oneness with Spirit, and have a good time doing it.
